Shakespeare International Motel, part of the Twin Towns Services Club group, is seeking expressions of interest from experienced or aspiring restaurant operator/s to manage Romeo & Juliet’s.

For many years, Romeo & Juliet’s has been a favourite dining choice for locals and guests alike. Indoors, it seats 40 people; 16 on the terrace; and the cocktail bar area comfortably accommodates 20.

The atmosphere feels like stepping into a little pub in old Tudor England, yet it’s nestled in the fast-moving centre of Mackay. Its space and décor are ideally suited to recreating an intimate pub dining experience, which could  include a mix of classics, steaks, Italian and modern Mediterranean. If your culinary inspiration is drawn from a different style of cuisine, we’d love to hear about it.

Anchored on the motel’s accommodation business, the operators will be required to commit to a minimum of:

  • 5 dinner services, Tuesday to Saturday;
  • Pre-prepared lunches for long stay contract guests, which may be outside of operating hours
  • The restaurant is currently licensed as part of the motel; the new operator will be welcome to obtain their own
      licence for the restaurant. The motel will continue to hold its own licence for in-room beverage service.

The operator can opt to provide additional services to the minimum proposed above, such as multiple lunch and/or hot breakfast offers.

This is an amazing opportunity to live your culinary dream without significant start-up and fit-out costs. Everything is in place, ready to go, including the motel’s customer base.

A flexible licence agreement will be negotiated with the right applicant, with an attractive rent structure to cover outgoings. Inspections available on site at 309 Shakespeare Street, Mackay.

Expressions of interest can be sent to romeo&  Please include details of relevant experience and your vision for Romeo & Juliet’s.
